    Hello,

I was today at another provider, not Cranioform, and I would like to ask you if I should also seek an opinion from Cranioform and if the measurements are done more professionally. Why I ask on a forum.. It’s hard to get an appointment and I would need to drive a long time to reach Cranioform, plus I want to avoid paying money to have same experience again.. I will send them an email though..

    My story:
-we noticed at 2 months that he is a bit flat and has torticollis (Schiefhalls). We did everything we could, many therapies, physio, etc, the Muscles improved and the problem with the neck was after a while resolved, but the head shape is still very bad in our opinion as parents.
Now he is 5 months old.

    – From above, the asymmetry is not that bad, but if you see the profile or the face, it’s bad. However only the measurements from above were taken as important. Is this same at Cranioform or they also look at the face and profile?

-When I look at the face, when fully opened, one eye is 3/4ths of the size of the other, I see a small asymmetry at the nose as well, and one ear is not only more forward, but also much more up than the other, plus the forehead is extremely up on one side. This was not at all taken in consideration, only the upper view, is that normal????

-the measurement took 3 seconds, using a hand held device. 3 seconds while the baby was moving a lot and turning all the time. I asked him are you sure you don’t need to measure again? he was in movement the whole time. Is it done differently at cranioform?

-a 3d image appeared on the screen and he took many minutes to clean it up manually (why????), it was really a lot the amount of editing that he did. Makes me wonder if it is correct when you have to edit so much. I was looking at that image on the screen and thinking that looks much better than my child‘s head. How can that be correct? Maybe it is though..

-The outcome was ear asymmetry of 7mm from above and they only give the Helmet from 10mm. CI 84,48mm , CVAI 4,53mm , Earshift: 7,09mm.

-I am distressed because I did everything I could with therapies, exercises, months of manually repositioning the head when sleeping, etc, but couldn’t help him, I paid a lot and I would pay privately for a helmet. I also have myself flathead and I was never able to wear Headphones comfortably and had huge jaw issues my whole life.. however it’s not that visible if you look at me.

I asked if it will improve by itself and he said, from his experience.. maybe 2mm improvement is to be expected.. a cosmetic asymmetry will stay.

Ps: you can also answer in german language.

    Hello Victor,

I can recommend Dr. von Gernet, who is in the Krankenhaus Bogenhausen in Schwabing in Munich. He is immensly experienced and he operated our kid, who had an asymmetric face. I suppose that first of all they might have to do an MRI to see the bones of the scull. After that it will be easier to see what is causing the Asymmetrie and what measures will be the best in your case.
The Haunersche Kinderklinik in Munich is also very very good. If you need a second opinion if a helmet would be helpful in your case, I would go there.
    All the best
    Marlies
